Visa Information
All visa seekers are requested to apply for Indian Visa through our online visa web link: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa
The instructions for filling the form can be seen at Instructions for Online Visa Application Important technical information for filling online Indian visa application can be referred at Technical Instructions. Please note that uploading of photograph is compulsory. A print out of the submitted application form should be taken and duly signed, (at two places), be produced at this High Commission along with supporting documents and requisite fees between 1000-1200 on working days to obtain a visa.
Please also note that for most categories of visas, the duration of each stay in India should not exceed 180 days/the validity of visa, whichever is shorter. In the case of visas where a longer stay is allowed (student visa etc.), registration with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office in India should be done within 14 days of arrival in India.
Documents required for:
1. Tourist Visa:
- Printout of the filled-in online visa application form completed in every respect and signed by the applicant. [Please note that uploading of photograph is compulsory] Uploaded photograph should be same as the pasted photograph on application.
- 2 recent passport size photographs
- Return air passage booking and confirmed hotel booking.
- Current bank statement of the applicant, duly stamped by the Bank and showing the current funds in the applicant’s account’. If company bank statement is being provided, company details linking the applicant to the account should be submitted.
- Proof of touristic nature of the visit.
- Proof of your current work profile or any reference from the company.
- Attach photocopy of bio page of your passport.
2. Business Visa:
- Printout of the filled-in online visa application form completed in every respect and signed by the applicant. [Please note that uploading of photograph is compulsory] Uploaded photograph should be same as the pasted photograph on application.
- 2 recent passport size photographs
- Letter of invitation from the company in India stating the name and passport number of the invitee. A copy of the letter should be sent by the Indian company from its official e-mail address directly to the e-mail addresses – cons.kigali@mea.gov.in
- A copy of trade license or recommendation from recognized Rwanda Development Board/PSP.
- Original with a copy of the commercial registration document of the company/business in Rwanda.
- Letter from the applicant’s company or employer stating that the applicant (name and passport number) will be travelling to India to conduct business with the Indian company on the company’s behalf.
- The letter from the applicant’s company or organization should specifically state that all expenses incurred during the visit will be paid/borne by it.
- Current bank statement of the applicant, duly stamped by the Bank and showing the current funds in the applicant’s account’. If company bank statement is being provided, details of authorised signatory from bank/ or company memorandum should be provided and a sponsorship letter from the signatory of the account is needed.
- Attach photocopy of bio page of your passport.
3. Short-term entry visa to attend seminars/conferences, etc.:
- Printout of the filled-in online visa application form completed in every respect and signed by the applicant. [Please note that uploading of photograph is compulsory]
- 2 recent passport size photographs
- An invitation letter from the organizers of the seminar/conference.
- The letter from the applicant’s company or organization.
- Proof of funding
- Attach photocopy of bio page of your passport
4. Student Visa:
- Printout of the filled-in online visa application form completed in every respect and signed by the applicant. [Please note that uploading of photograph is compulsory]
- 2 recent passport size photographs
- Confirmed admission letter from a recognized University - signed by the International Students Advisor or the College/ Institution in India signed by the Principal. And, Institute should mail the admission letter to our mail id: cons.kigali@mea.gov.in
- Proof of financial support from a sponsor with documentary evidence showing availability of the equivalent of 1st year college fee plus US$ 2,000/- in the bank account. The documents required are - a letter signed by the sponsor, sponsor’s original passport with a copy of the page giving the personal details of the holder. If company bank statement is being provided, company details linking the applicant to the account should be submitted.

- Attach photocopy of bio page of your passport.
5. Medical Visa:
- Printout of the filled-in online visa application form completed in every respect and signed by the applicant. [Please note that uploading of photograph is compulsory].
- 2 recent passport size photographs.
- Letter from local hospital/doctor recommending special treatment in India.
- A letter from the recognized medical institution in India stating the name, passport number and nationality of the patient and attendant/s and confirming that treatment will be provided by it.
- Proof of availability of funds (such as bank statement, receipt of payment issued by hospital in India etc.) for such treatment. If company bank statement is being provided, company details linking the applicant to the account should be submitted.
- The applicant should submit the full medical history.
- Referral letters from local hospital as well as invitation letter from Indian hospital should be sent from the official email id of the hospital to cons.kigali@mea.gov.in
- Attach photocopy of bio page of your passport.
Please note the following when applying for a visa:
- Passport valid for minimum 6 months beyond the date of intended departure from India. The visa validity period may not extend beyond the passport's validity expiry date.
- Visitors to India should hold a valid yellow fever certificate. Vaccination should have been taken at least 14 days before the date of travel
- The Applicant should personally sign the application at the two designated places.
- Application forms should be filled completely, correctly and legibly; incomplete and illegible forms may not be entertained.
- Applications for minors should be accompanied by the original and of the Birth Certificate of the minor and consent letter signed by BOTH parents, along with original IDs of the parents.

- The High Commission reserves the right to call any applicant for a personal interview, and may ask for additional information at any stage during the processing.
- Submission of the application along with prescribed fees does not necessarily guarantee issue of visa.
- The High Commission reserves the right to refuse visa to any applicant without assigning any reason, as well as to decide the duration of visa.
- The visa fees are non-refundable, even if the application is withdrawn or the service refused.
- Validity of all visas is counted from the date of their issue. Apply for visa with sufficient time in advance.
- The requirements or guidelines herein, and the fees structure, are subject to change without prior notice.
- In a case of a fraud or misbehavior, the passport will be suitably endorsed/stamped.
- All persons holding a long term visa (validity exceeding 180 days) are required, within 14 days of arrival in India, to get themselves registered with the nearest Foreigners Registration Office. However, for a long term Business Visa holder, registration is required only well before the 180-day period provided the planned stay in one visit is to extend beyond 180 days, or else registration is not required at all.
- Any person seeking a visa to India for the purpose of entering into a surrogacy arrangement must ascertain beforehand whether the law of the applicant's country permits surrogacy and will provide appropriate travel documents to the child for accompanying the surrogate parents. Entering into surrogacy arrangements under any other visa not sought for surrogacy is punishable under Indian law.
