High Commissioner of India
Mridu Pawan Das assumed charge as the High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Rwanda on 26 August, 2024.
He is a career diplomat who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2004. He has served twice in the Embassy of India in Tehran, including as the Deputy Chief of Mission in 2020-21. He has also served as Counsellor (Political) in the Embassy of India, Washington D.C from 2017 to 2019, and as First Secretary in the High Commission of India, Dhaka from 2012 to 2015.
At the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, High Commissioner Mridu Pawan Das has served as Director (External Publicity & Public Diplomacy), and as Deputy Secretary in Bangladesh-Myanmar (BM) and Northern divisions which handle relations with India's neighbours, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and Bhutan. He also served as Under Secretary (United Nations Political) when India was a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in 2011-12.
Before assuming charge as the High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Rwanda, he was Joint Secretary with the
Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service, the diplomatic training institute of the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi from August 2021 to August 2024.
Mridu Pawan Das has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering. He is married and has two children.
